MINING DIVISION
The Mining Division owns and maintains quartz and high purity dolomite reserves. Each year, approximately 250,000 metric tons of quartz are extracted for use in the production of silicon based alloys and approximately 180,000 metric tons of dolomite for the production of magnesium and its alloys. Rima utilizes modern extraction and mining techniques to take all necessary environmental precautions for sustainable development.
In order to minimize environmental waste and create jobs, RIMA Mineração invested in a project to reuse the waste generated during the crushing and washing of quartz. Gravel and Sand are byproducts that are mixed with cement to make masonry and paving blocks which have industrial or urban applications.
